Miss Heartland?
We want you to compete for the title of Miss Heartland 2008. Not only will you have a chance at a $500 scholarship, but you could also win a trip to Miss Illinois 2008 to compete for the state title.
Contestants will compete in five areas including lifestyle and fitness (swimsuit), talent, evening gown, on-stage question and a private interview. Each area of competition constitutes a certain percentage of the overall score.
Each contestant also raises $100 for the Children's Miracle Network as a part of the Miss Illinois fundraising team. This donation can come from local businesses, friends and family members.
Contestants will be asked to prepare a "platform" for their private interview. A platform is a cause, or philanthropic endeavor that the contestant will pursue during her year of service. Some examples include but are not limited to, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Youth Violence Prevention, Breast Cancer Awareness, or The Importance of Blood Donation.
Miss Heartland 2008 will not only commit to her own personal platform, but will work with both the Character Counts Coalition and the Children's Miracle Network during her year of service.
